AusTender Supplier Portal Opening to All Businesses from 1 July 2026
-
The Australian Government's new Supplier Portal inside AusTender will be available to all businesses from 1 July 2026, offering suppliers direct control over how they appear to federal procurement agencies, a change that comes alongside the most significant overhaul of Commonwealth procurement rules in over two decades.
The portal, which launched in October 2025, allows suppliers to detail and display their key business characteristics directly within AusTender. This includes whether a business is registered as Indigenous, identifies as an SME, is women-owned, or qualifies as an Australian or New Zealand business.

Open to all by 1 July 2026
The initial rollout has focused on suppliers on the Management Advisory Services (MAS) Panel and the People Panel, with the portal expanding to all businesses by July 2026, regardless of panel membership.
Until then, procurement agencies are still required to conduct their own market analysis to identify relevant suppliers outside those panels.

Why it matters
The Supplier Portal arrives alongside a sweeping change to how the Commonwealth buys goods and services. From 17 November 2025, new Commonwealth Procurement Rules require that only Australian businesses be invited to tender for government contracts valued at less than $125,000 which is the first time the threshold has been raised in over 20 years. For construction services, the threshold extends to $7.5 million.
The changes put Australian businesses at the front of the queue for approximately 31,000 government contracts worth almost $2 billion annually.
But eligibility alone isn't enough. Businesses must actively declare themselves as an Australian business to be considered for prioritised contracts, and the Supplier Portal is where that declaration is made and managed.

What suppliers should do now
Businesses already on the MAS or People Panel should log into AusTender and review their Supplier Portal profile to ensure their business characteristics are accurate. Procuring agencies will use this information to identify and shortlist suppliers for relevant contracts.
For businesses not yet on a panel, 1 July 2026 is the date to work toward, making now a practical time to ensure your AusTender registration details are up to date and complete.
