The Melbourne Metro Rail Authority has released tenders for the Metro Tunnel Project managed by the Cross Yarra Partnership. The Metro Tunnel Project (Tunnels and Stations PPP) is an $11 billion dollar, multi-disciplinary, city shaping project. The civil works tender is for civil and earth works, rail infrastructure and road and streetscape construction and maintenance.
The Tunnels and Stations PPP includes the construction of twin 9km rail tunnels from Kensington to South Yarra as part of a new end to end Sunshine to Dandenong line and new underground stations at Arden, Parkville, CBD North (with a direct pedestrian connection with Melbourne Central station), CBD South (with a direct pedestrian connection with Flinders Street Station) and Domain. Tender details can be viewed on Australian Tenders.
Construction is expected to commence early next year and the tender closes on December 31. Stage One will be initial registration and providing answers to a short questionnaire. Stage Two will be to fill in a detailed EOI form once the packages are listed. More Victorian civil construction tenders are available at Australian Tenders.
Also a current tender for this project, is the tender released by the Victorian Department of Transport in which the MMRA is seeking concrete mix designs from local industry. Concrete suppliers are requested to prepare and provide appropriate mix designs and associated information to MMRA. This information will then be provided to the Metro Tunnel work package proponents for their information during the project tender and pricing periods. Suppliers may choose to supply some or all the mix types required by the work package proponents.
